The Bollinger B4, with a GVWR of 15,500 pounds, will be available later this year and the company said it qualifies for up to a $40,000 federal tax credit under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
Ford’s commercial division is working with professional services firm Ernst & Young LLP (EY US) to help provide customers with information on potentially valuable tax credits and incentives.
The only EVs eligible for the tax credit are those assembled in North America. Another condition requires batteries be built with rare earth metals that are extracted or processed in a country where the U.S. has a free trade agreement.
The credit for zero-emission heavy-duty trucks and buses over 14,000 lbs. would equal 10% of the sales price. The credit would be a boon to buyers of electric trucks from new manufacturers.
A bill that would terminate the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles was introduced by U.S. Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), chairman of the Environment and Public Works committee.
The state will hold a hearing on offering a $4,500 subsidy for electric vehicles that are sold in the state.
