The E-Transit has more than 10,000 orders from fleet and commercial customers. Ford said it “is working on ways to increase production.”
Fleets looking to order an F-150 Lightning in the first wave must have entered their interest as a “hand-raiser” with a valid FIN on Ford’s website. Additional reservation holders will be invited in phases to order over the next few months.
Nearly 185,000 Ford 2021-2022 F-150s are under recall because underbody heat and noise insulators may loosen and contact the aluminum driveshaft and cause it to fracture.
The truck was built by Old Steel Fabrication in Leona Valley, California, and is outfitted with all the necessary tools and equipment for construction as well as outdoor recreation.
With 150,000 reservations and counting, the additional resources will boost the supply of the all-electric pickup truck when it goes on sale in the spring of 2022.
The company plans to spend $850 million to meet an annual production of more than 80,000 electric trucks in 2024.
Reservations for the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck have now surpassed 100,000 since the truck was first shown in May.
