Nissan has revised its Altima sedan for the 2016 model year by freshening the styling, enhancing performance, and adding new safety features, the company has announced.
The recall, an expansion of a previous one, affects 625,000 Altima sedans manufactured from March 1, 2013, to Dec. 31, 2014.
Nissan's base model 2015 Altima mid-size sedan will carry a retail price of $22,300, which doesn't include an $810 destination fee.
Nissan is adding a new Technology package, a new Display Audio package, and a new Sport Value package for MY-2014. The automaker also said it updated the cloth seats and improved noise isolation.
The Nissan Altima comes equipped with a variety of standard safety features, including the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System and the Tire Pressure Monitoring System with Easy Fill Tire Alert.
The 2013 Nissan Altima is a must-drive for fleet buyers with refinements ranging from 'zero-gravity' front seats, 16-inch wheels, and keyless ignition and entry.
The Easy-Fill Tire Alert system is an all-new control module that the company is phasing into redesigned models (such as the Altima). It works by alerting the driver to a low tire and, in some models, displaying the current pressure and tire(s) that require filling on the dashboard display.
Nissan said the Altima is arriving at dealer showrooms later this month.
The big change in the 2013 Altima’s powertrain over previous models is the addition of Nissan’s next-generation Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT). The automaker said it redesigned 70% of the parts and reduced internal friction by 40% compared with the previous transmission.
The latest edition of Nissan's Altima sedan will go on sale in July of 2012 with a starting MSRP of $21,500. The automaker plans to offer the 2013-MY Altima in four 2.5L engine equipped models (2.5, 2.5 S, 2.5 SV, and 2.5 SL), and three 3.5L V-6 equipped models (3.5 S, 3.5 SV, and 3.5 SL).
