The automaker has now shipped thousands of repair kits for 2003-2007 vehicles. Owners of 2008-2011 models will receive a letter in early May confirming their inclusion in the recall.
The automaker's latest recall includes certain Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx vehicles as well as other Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac models.
The automaker is recalling 824,000 more vehicles to ensure they all have a current ignition switch.
All Saturn model years 2005-2010 are now available for purchase at any of the 3,400 Buick, Chevrolet and GMC GM Certified Used Vehicles dealers across the nation.
General Motors' President and CEO Fritz Henderson issued a statement regarding the Penske/Saturn termination, saying that the news was disappointing.
