FCA US is updating its Uconnect infotainment system to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with select 2016 models, the company announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
In response to a report of vehicle hacking via the Uconnect system, FCA US is updating software for about 1.4 million vehicles in the U.S.
FCA is introducing new features to its Uconnect infotainment system in select 2016 Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram Truck vehicles, in addition to updating the performance of the infotainment system.
FCA US is adding features such as vehicle finder, send-destination-to-vehicle, vehicle health report and vehicle health alert to Uconnect.
Chrysler announced that its dealers can now "activate" a navigation system after the purchase of vehicles equipped with specific Uconnect systems.
According to the company, registered owners of the 2013-MY Ram 1500 (and the 2013 SRT Viper) will be the first customers able to test the system.
