Safe Fleet, now part of Clarience Technologies, discussed its new wireless camera system during NTEA Work Truck Week 2024. The company also detailed how artificial intelligence is being offered with its camera systems.

Air Vue is a wireless backup camera system for tractor-trailers that was launched in the second half of last year, explained Steve Kiefer, senior vice president of Safe Fleet’s commercial vehicle group. Safe Fleet is the number one video supplier of mobile video in the Americas with more than 1.5 million video systems installed, he added during a press conference.

Air Vue is a groundbreaking product that instantly and flawlessly pairs a wireless backup camera on a trailer with a monitor in the cab,” explained Kiefer. “Wired camera systems and tractor trailers, which have not grown much over the years, take about 10 hours to install. One of the key benefits of Air Vue is it can be installed in two-and- a-half hours or less, thus dramatically reducing the installation time and costs to upfit a tractor-trailer.”

According to Safe Fleet, the key benefits of Air Vue are:

  • Instant pairing - Patent pending pairing-over-power enables camera and monitor pairing via a vehicle’s electrical system.
  • Reliable connection - Air Vue ensures accurate tractor-trailer pairing, even in crowded freight yards.
  • Strong signal – A 300-foot stable transmission range that covers even double and triple towing.
  • Speedy installation - Get your whole fleet ready to hit the road quickly with minimal downtime.
  • Effortless usage - No buttons to push; the operator doesn’t have to do anything to activate the system.
  • Easy integration - Seamlessly integrate IP69K front and side cameras. The versatile system can cover the blind spots and prevent side-swipes.
  • Telematics services - Easily connect to the platforms such as Samsara, Lytx, and Netradyne.
  • Video output - Supports SD card recording plus has one independent CVBS video output.

Intelligent Fleet Protection Through AI Technology

Safe Fleet is also expanding its offerings for Air Vue and other RVS (Rear View Safety) camera systems it offers, to use artificial intelligence (AI) smart cameras.

“These powerful camera and monitor solutions use advanced proximity detection technology to sense safety hazards and provide either audio or visible alerts to the driver,” explained Kiefer.

The advantages of using Safe Fleet systems powered by AI camera technology, according to the company, are:

  • Complete visibility - Eliminates blind spots through around-vehicle monitoring with front, back, and side full HD AI cameras.
  • Advanced detection - Identifies pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles for enhanced vehicle-surrounding awareness.
  • Precision monitoring - Recognizes body parts and detects various human postures for greater accuracy and protection.
  • Adjustable range - Set up detection zones from 1.5 to 49 feet to fit your specific needs.
  • Visual alerts - Color-coded and intuitive visual alerts enhance your situational awareness.
  • Audible warnings - Experience the immediacy of audio alarms, emanating directly from your monitor device.
  • Easy integration - Straightforward connection to your existing RVS monitors and DVR systems.
  • Durability - Endures extreme conditions with IP69K water- and dust-resistant cameras.

American Mobile Fleet Services Expands, New Location

Marc Richter, Safe Fleet vice president and general manager of work truck and SAAS (safety as a service), explained some of the latest services offered through the company’s American Mobile Fleet Services (AMFS), which focuses on installation and service related to video technology, vehicle technology, and mechanical upfits onsite at customer locations.

“With decades of experience, we are the gold standard in mobile outfits,” said Richter during a press conference. “We do this through our thousands of vetted network installers, our extreme focus on quality control, as well as our proprietary software which allows us to schedule our installers allows us to track our upgrades and installations.”

In the past 12 to 24 months, he added, AMFS has installed more than 10,000 RVS cameras and video systems for one of the nation’s largest delivery fleets.

Richter announced the expansion of Safe Fleets network of upfit centers and announced the most recent upfit location in Lewisville, Ohio. The new center is located near OEM trailer building partners and allows for a quick upfit right after trailers are fabricated, he explained.

“The facility has the capability for four concurring installations, is staffed by our factory-trained installation technicians, and has the ability to fabricate custom tarps on site,” Richter said.

Safe Fleets Now Part of Clarience Technologies

Kiefer pointed out, during the press conference, that Safe Fleets in February became part of Clarience Technologies.

“We're highly confident bringing together the great best-in-class products of Safe Fleet and Clarience Technologies and combining the trusted fleet safety experts as well as the trusted visibility technology experts of Clarience will significantly enhance the value proposition that we bring to the commercial vehicle industry,” Kiefer added. “Our combined companies have the shared vision of making fleets safer and smarter.”

Safe Fleet Acquires Vango Rolling Tarp Solutions

Also, Safe Fleet acquired Vango Rolling Tarp Solutions in the past year. It joined Roll-Rite and Pulltarps as a part of Safe Fleet’s tarping solutions portfolio.

“Vango is a perfect addition to our existing tarping systems business, adding breadth to our product portfolio to serve a key commercial vehicle market segment,” says John R. Knox, Safe Fleet chairman and CEO. “Their innovative products combined with exceptional installation and aftermarket parts and service support will add to the Safe Fleet value proposition for commercial vehicle fleets and operators.”
