NHTSA Safety Symposium to Address Lithium-ion Battery-Powered EVs

The National Highway Traffic Safety Association will hold a technical symposium May 18 in Washington, D.C., to discuss regulatory and safety considerations for electric vehicles powered by lithium-ion batteries.

The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the West Atrium of the U.S. Department of Transportation building. Included will be brief NHTSA presentations outlining current agency research and activities related to Li-ion batteries and Li-ion battery-powered vehicles, as well as presentations by the Department of Energy, voluntary standards bodies, and automotive and battery manufacturers.

Attendance is free of charge, but pre-registration is highly recommended. For security purposes, government-issued photo ID is required to enter the Department of Transportation building, located at 1200 New Jersey Ave. SE in Washington D.C. (20590).
