NAAA Advises to Check for Open Recalls Prior to Remarketing

The National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) says that vehicles with open recalls should not be withheld from its members’ dealer-only sales. Since auctions are unable to monitor the recall status of every vehicle for sale, the responsibility falls to auction buyers and remarketers.

Rental and fleet management companies can do their part to help by identifying open recalls and having them fixed prior to remarketing. Check the vehicle history with Carfax to help pinpoint vehicles that have unfixed open recalls. Many manufacturers report their open recall information to Carfax, which appears on Carfax Vehicle History Reports.

Carfax receives open recall information for the following nameplates: Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jeep, Kia, Lincoln, Lotus, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mercury, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Subaru, Suzuki and Volvo.

Carfax customers are encouraged to contact their Carfax Account Manager for more information. To become a Carfax-subscriber, visit www.carfaxonline.com or call (800) 444-0145.
