Centurion Wireless Technologies, Inc., a manufacturer of
antennas for wireless communications and Comworxx, Inc., a
provider of in-vehicle telematics systems,
joined forces Mar. 18 to showcase a new automotive
communications solutions at the Cellular Telecommunications and
Internet Association's (CTIA) annual wireless expo.
Among the antennas Centurion will feature at its booth is the
Internal Mercury Tri-band, the industry's first telematics antenna
to combine cellular and PCS communications with GPS in a single form factor that can be concealed under the
dash or rear package shelf . In turn, Comworxx is
demonstrating Port-IT, the in-vehicle telematics system with
voice-activated telephone dialing, turn-by-turn navigation,
and hands-free personalized information access. Port-IT can be
combined with a common Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to offer even
more advanced wireless-based information, productivity and convenience
services, according to the company.
"The Mercury Tri-band offers automakers and the automotive
aftermarket the solution they are clamoring to find with a high
performance, low-profile antenna solution that minimizes the impact
telematics systems have on a vehicle's aesthetic design," said Gary
Kuck, president and CEO of Centurion. "We chose to invite Comworxx to
help showcase the Mercury Tri-band because their innovative telematics
system, in conjunction with our antenna, illustrates the full range of
in-vehicle communications."
"Port-IT integrates every service needed to enable drivers with
voice driven access to their favorite stocks, sports, news,
infotainment content, hands-free dialing and much more, while
exceeding the hands-off wireless legislation pending in most states,"
said Mike Jonas, president and CEO of Comworxx, Inc. "Centurion's
products are an ideal companion to demonstrate the power of telematics
that Port-IT enables and we are extremely pleased to be cooperating
with them at the show."
