Motorola Opens Automotive Headquarters

June 5, 2002

Motorola, Inc. announced June 5 the opening of its automotive headquarters in Farmington Hills, Mich. According to the company, the centrally located campus improves Motorola's ability to work with manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive industry by further integrating sales, marketing, and application and software engineering under one roof. Motorola says the new 125,000 square-foot facility houses an innovation center, technical review center, product display center, engineering development facilities, six laboratories including full-vehicle testing and component labs, and 27 conference rooms. The automotive headquarters will eventually accommodate up to 500 employees and is designed for additional expansion. Currently, the facility is comprised of 240 associates from across the greater Detroit region including employees from Rochester Hills, Northville, Troy, Farmington Hills and Dearborn. "The creation of our automotive headquarters campus is the cornerstone of Motorola's commitment to being a leading supplier of next generation electronics and communications systems to the automotive industry," said Jacqui Dedo, vice president and general manager of worldwide market operations, Motorola Automotive. "Motorola's roots are automotive -- we were founded 70 years ago as a supplier to the automotive industry, and our focus on this market has never been stronger." The site is located at 37101 Corporate Drive in Farmington Hills, Mich. Representatives from local, city, county, federal government, and Motorola customers were on hand to mark the grand opening and show their support for the new facility.
