DriveCam and Smith System Announce Alliance

DriveCam Video Systems, a developerof fleet safety technology, announced it has signed a marketing agreement with Smith System Driver Improvement Institute toprovide fleets with driver training and safety programs. Underthe agreement, DriveCam and Smith System say they will endorse and promote complementary products that provide fleet customers with a comprehensive system toevaluate and improve driving behavior. Smith System is a specialist in professional driver safety trainingand hands-on safety education programs. Founded in 1952, the companyis the originator of the "5 Keys to Space Cushion Driving," a method to increase an experienced driver's safety awareness. According to the company, DriveCam'sDriving Feedback System digitally records erratic driving and collisionsfrom the vehicle, which are then used to counsel drivers and improve drivingperformance. "Commercial fleet operators are facing mounting insurance rates and risingoperating costs. Improving driving performance is the key to controllinginsurance losses," said Ed Andrew, president of DriveCam. "The marriageof DriveCam's video capture of actual driving experiences with Smith System'ssuperior training programs provides a powerful weapon that fleets canuse to reduce the frequency and severity of collisions and lower expenses."Included in the agreement, Smith System will incorporate DriveCam recordingsof actual driving incidents, including those unique to specific typesof fleets, into its fleet training programs.
