Virginia Dumps Car Tax Plan for Transportation Projects

Virginia state senators last week abandoned a plan calling for higher taxes on fuel, car titling, vehicle registration and other car-related purchases to raise more than $800 million for transportation projects. State senators dropped their push for the transportation projects in hopes of ending a budget stalemate with the House of Delegates. Senate leaders have vowed to shift their focus to education spending.
