United Way Donates Fleet Car to Non Profit

January 20, 2011

After a local non-profit organization's company vehicle was wrecked, United Way of El Dorado, Kan. donated a vehicle to the organization, according to the El Dorado Times.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butler County owned a much-used vehicle, but after the vehicle was damaged, the agency determined it would pay nearly four times as much in mileage if it did not have the car.

Valecia Vogts-Scribner, the community director of Big Brothers Big Sisters, said that with tight budgets, repairing a car with high mileage didn't make sense.

United Way offered assistance, and now the Big Brothers Big Sisters car will be used to travel from meeting to meeting and town to town, allowing the agency to serve more Butler County children by providing them with safe and high quality mentors.
