Q. What is an effective way to change driver behavior?
A. The best way to implement driver change is through a combination of education, data monitoring, and driver accountability...
A. Believe it or not, tire problems cause nearly half of all roadside breakdowns. Big temperature swings as the seasons change will cause fluctuations in tire pressure. Make sure the tire pressure is optimized, check for wear including sidewall cracking as well as tread depth, and replace any tires as recommended by the manufacturer. Replace any tires that have reached 3/32” or less in remaining tread depth. Good tire maintenance and pressure will not only head off potential problems, it can improve fuel economy, so it is well worth the time and effort it takes to inspect them on a regular basis and immediately take action when sensors warn of low pressure. Then turn your attention to general engine maintenance including batteries and starters, which, in addition to tires, account for the majority of breakdowns.
