Free wireless Internet service is now available in kiosks at two Texas rest areas, with plans to expand the service to the state’s 84 rest areas and 12 Travel Information Centers. Six Iowa rest areas have been equipped with free wifi as part of a six-month feasibility project. A Wisconsin rest area on Interstate 94 also offers free wifi. In September, Michigan announced plans to bring wifi to rest areas, its 10 state parks and welcome centers. The state is offering free access to its government and tourism sites, otherwise; the service at Michigan recreational areas will cost $7.95 for 24 sessions and $19.95 for unlimited access.
