Vehicle manufacturers are adding a slew of new utility vehicles to their lineups for the 2018 model year, and ceasing production of some of their cars as fleet and retail buyers shift their tastes toward SUVs of all stripes.
The recall includes more than 414,000 Jeep Liberty, Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger vehicles in the U.S. in the 2012 and 2013 model years.
Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles and Hyundai will discontinue the most models for the 2017 model year with FCA paring back its car offerings and Hyundai launching the Genesis luxury brand. General Motors is discontinuing its Impala CNG sedan.
The recall, which covers an estimated 1.4 million vehicles, includes the Jeep Patriot, Jeep Compass, and Chrysler 200 models.
FCA US will introduce a new Ram Truck model for the 2017 model year on Feb. 11 at the Chicago Auto Show, the company has announced.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will eventually discontinue the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart, increase Jeep SUV and Ram truck production, and roll out additional hybrids as part of its business plan leading toward 2018.
