Toyota is expanding the 2027 Grand Highlander lineup with a new Hybrid Woodland Edition, adding another all-wheel-drive option for small businesses that need passenger space, cargo flexibility, and some added capability from an SUV.
For small business operators, the larger story here is the range of configurations available across the Grand Highlander lineup. For 2027, Toyota offers gas, Hybrid, and Hybrid MAX powertrains, with front- or all-wheel drive available depending on the grade and powertrain.
Three Powertrains Give Businesses Options
The standard gas Grand Highlander uses a 2.4L turbocharged engine producing 265 horsepower, while the 2.5L Hybrid produces 245 total system horsepower. At the top of the range, the Hybrid MAX produces 362 total system horsepower.
Fuel economy also varies considerably depending on configuration. Toyota estimates the Hybrid XLE FWD at 36 mpg combined, while the Hybrid LE, XLE, Woodland, and Limited AWD models are estimated at 34 mpg combined. Gas models are estimated at 24 mpg combined with FWD and 23 mpg with AWD. The Hybrid MAX Platinum is estimated at 27 mpg combined.
For businesses that tow, gas-powered Grand Highlander models and the Hybrid MAX are rated for up to 5,000 pounds. Hybrid models are rated for up to 3,500 pounds.
Grand Highlander Balances People and Cargo
The Grand Highlander can seat up to eight occupants depending on configuration, while models equipped with second-row captain's chairs seat seven. Perfect for bringing your whole crew around.
With the rear seats folded, maximum cargo capacity reaches 97.5 cubic feet. Toyota says the SUV can also accommodate seven carry-on suitcases with all three rows in use.
Standard interior equipment includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen, three-zone automatic climate control with second- and third-row vents, and seven USB-C charging ports.

The 2027 Grand Highlander’s 2.4L turbocharged gas engine produces 265 hp. Gas models are available with front- or all-wheel drive and can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

What's Different About the Woodland Edition?
The new Grand Highlander Woodland Edition pairs the 2.5L Hybrid powertrain with standard AWD and adds features aimed at increasing capability beyond paved roads.
The package includes 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and an additional half-inch of ground clearance. It also adds roof rails with crossbars, a tow hitch, mud guards, LED fog lamps, all-weather floor mats, and enhanced rear cargo-area lighting and storage.
For businesses using equipment or electronics in the field, the Woodland Edition also includes 120V/1500W AC power. And, in a decidedly less work-focused addition, Toyota includes a removable second-row console that doubles as a cooler and can hold up to six 12-ounce cans.
Safety and Connected Technology Come Standard
All 2027 Grand Highlander models include Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. The suite includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beams, and Proactive Driving Assist.
Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Safe Exit Alert are also standard.
The Grand Highlander also includes five-year trials for Toyota's Safety Connect, Service Connect, and Remote Connect connected services. Digital Key capability is available on XLE, Woodland Edition, Limited, and Platinum grades with a Remote Connect subscription or trial.
When Will the 2027 Grand Highlander Arrive?
Toyota assembles the Grand Highlander in Princeton, Indiana, with 2027 models expected to begin arriving at dealerships later in 2026.
Starting MSRP is $42,560 for the gas-powered LE with FWD and $45,910 for the Hybrid LE, excluding dealer processing and handling fees.
For small businesses, the 2027 lineup provides a wide spread of choices within one SUV, from an efficiency-focused FWD hybrid to AWD configurations and a 362-hp Hybrid MAX with greater towing capability.
