Mike Albert Fleet Solutions has named Marty Kuhn chief executive officer following a unanimous vote of the company's board of directors. Kuhn, who has served as president since 2022, will retain that title.
The appointment marks a milestone for the Cincinnati-based fleet management company as Kuhn becomes the first non-family CEO in its history. Founded in 1928, Mike Albert Fleet Solutions has been owned and led by the Betagole family for more than six decades and will remain family-owned.
John Betagole, the company's most recent CEO, was elected chairman of the board and will continue serving in that role.
"Marty has earned our family's confidence over the last four years, so this is a natural next step rather than a new direction," Betagole said. "He's brought a CFO and operator's lens to our business and sharpened the data-driven, consultative approach our clients rely on. His future-focused leadership has earned the trust of our team and our clients alike, and our family couldn't be more confident in where he's taking us."
Looking Ahead to the Future of Mike Albert
The leadership transition reflects what the company describes as "the next generation of fleet management," as organizations increasingly seek support beyond vehicle financing and leasing. Fleet operators are looking for partners that can help manage operating costs, improve utilization, maximize uptime, and make more informed lifecycle decisions.
During Kuhn's tenure as president, Mike Albert expanded the adoption of services across maintenance, fuel, telematics, and other fleet operations while strengthening the data foundation that supports fleet decision-making. According to the company, adoption of solutions beyond leasing has nearly tripled among clients.
"I'm honored to lead a company with this legacy and this team," Kuhn said. "My job is to honor what generations of the Betagole family and our associates have built, while making sure we keep getting better."
Kuhn added that fleet complexity continues to increase for organizations across industries.
"One of my guiding beliefs is that what got us here won't get us there," he said. "Fleet management is only getting more complex, and our clients deserve a partner who knows their fleet and helps them act before a problem becomes a disruption."
Since becoming president, Kuhn has also led investments in Mike Albert's OverDrive fleet management platform, including Single Sign-On functionality and expanded API integrations designed to connect fleet data and support client decision-making. The company is additionally investing in AI-enabled capabilities intended to surface timely insights and simplify day-to-day fleet management.
Before joining Mike Albert in 2022, Kuhn spent nearly two decades in consumer finance and fintech. He previously served as president of SmartPay, where he helped lead the company's digital growth strategy and secure more than $3 billion in capital.
