The redesigned Lexus NX moves to an entirely electrified lineup for 2027, giving small businesses another premium crossover option with hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains, updated safety technology, and several features that could prove useful for company vehicles.

The 2027 NX will be offered as the NX 350h hybrid or NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid. Lexus estimates the plug-in model will provide more than 40 miles of electric driving range on select grades, with official EPA ratings coming closer to launch. The PHEV also adds standard DC fast-charging capability.

  • PHEV Range: More than 40 miles estimated on select grades
  • Drivetrain: FWD or AWD, depending on grade
  • Charging: DC fast charging standard on PHEV models
  • Safety: Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 standard

More Choices for Businesses Considering Electrification

For businesses that want to reduce fuel use without moving entirely to a battery-electric vehicle, the NX lineup provides two different approaches.

The NX 350h will be available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive on Premium and Premium+ grades, while F SPORT and Luxury hybrid models will come with all-wheel drive. All NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid models will be equipped with all-wheel drive.

Lexus also updated the hybrid system for 2027, including changes aimed at improving efficiency, packaging, and power delivery. The plug-in hybrid receives a larger lithium-ion battery with 30% more capacity than the previous system.

For small businesses evaluating a PHEV, the estimated 40-plus-mile electric range could cover a meaningful portion of daily local driving while retaining a gasoline engine for longer trips.

Built-In Technology Could Help Business Drivers

Some of the most relevant changes for business users are inside the vehicle. A 14-inch Lexus Interface touchscreen is now standard across the NX lineup. The system includes navigation, entertainment, vehicle information, and connected services.

The NX also includes a standard Drive Recorder that uses the vehicle's exterior cameras to record and save video associated with manual or triggered events. That effectively gives owners integrated dashcam capability without installing a separate camera.

An available Digital Key allows compatible smartphones and devices to function as vehicle keys and lets owners share vehicle access with other drivers through compatible digital wallets. For a small company with vehicles shared among employees, that could simplify vehicle access without relying on physical keys.

Remote Connect and Service Connect are also available, allowing owners to check vehicle status, remotely lock or unlock the vehicle, receive vehicle health alerts, and schedule maintenance through connected devices.

Safety Technology Comes Standard

Every 2027 Lexus NX will come standard with Lexus Safety System+ 4.0.

The system includes pre-collision technology with pedestrian, bicyclist, and motorcyclist detection, full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane tracing assistance, lane departure warning with steering assistance, road sign recognition, and proactive driving assistance.

Additional available technologies include Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, Front Cross-Traffic Alert, and Rear Pedestrian Detection.

For small businesses assigning vehicles to employees, those standard and available driver-assistance systems add another consideration beyond purchase price and fuel economy when comparing vehicles.

2027 Lexus NX Pricing Still to Come

The 2027 NX lineup will include Premium, Premium+, F SPORT, and Luxury grades across the hybrid and plug-in hybrid offerings.

Lexus has not yet announced pricing or final EPA fuel economy and electric-range figures. Additional details are expected closer to the NX going on sale, with the updated model expected to reach global markets by the end of 2026.
