The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) announced that Automotive Service Professionals Month (ASPM) will continue to be observed this June but will transition, beginning in 2026-2027, to April and October to align with Spring and Fall Car Care Months.
According to ASE, the move is designed to better connect recognition of automotive service professionals with existing consumer-facing vehicle maintenance campaigns that take place nationwide each spring and fall.
Repair shops, dealerships, and service centers already participate in Car Care Month activities focused on preventive maintenance, vehicle safety, and customer education. ASE believes aligning ASPM with those efforts will increase visibility for service professionals while strengthening public awareness of the role technicians play in keeping vehicles operating safely and reliably.
“While we are still proud to recognize Automotive Service Professionals Month this June, moving ASPM to October and April allows us to more closely connect with Car Care Month activities already happening across the country,” said Dave Johnson, ASE president and CEO. “Many of the repair facilities that employ ASE Certified professionals already participate in these seasonal events, so aligning ASPM with them creates a natural opportunity to highlight the skill, training, and dedication of these technicians.”
For small fleet operators, qualified technicians are increasingly important as vehicles become more complex and technology-driven. ASE noted that certified professionals must renew their credentials every five years to demonstrate continued proficiency with evolving vehicle systems and industry standards.
ASE Certification remains one of the industry's most recognized credentials, helping consumers and fleet operators identify technicians who have demonstrated both hands-on experience and technical knowledge through rigorous testing and ongoing recertification requirements.
