TruckDocsAI launched an AI-powered DOT compliance platform designed specifically for owner-operators and small fleets operating one to five trucks.

The launch comes as technology providers increasingly target smaller trucking businesses with tools aimed at simplifying compliance, safety, and administrative tasks, traditionally handled through paper-based processes.

The company said the platform helps carriers manage compliance documentation by using artificial intelligence to categorize documents from smartphone photos, extract expiration dates, and organize records in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) audit requirements.

According to TruckDocsAI, the platform integrates live carrier information through the FMCSA QCMobile API, including operating authority status, insurance filings, safety ratings, MCS-150 census data, and Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) BASIC scores.

Key features include AI-powered document categorization across 19 compliance categories, automated expiration alerts, FMCSA carrier profile monitoring, and an audit readiness score that combines document completion, carrier data, and compliance checklist requirements.

FMCSA Audit Preparation and Document Management

The platform also includes a New Entrant Audit Pack that helps carriers prepare for FMCSA safety audits by generating audit packet PDFs based on the agency's New Entrant Safety Audit checklist.

An "Officer-Ready Mode" provides access to compliance documents during roadside inspections.

"Owner-operators have been priced out of real compliance software for years," said Robert Lane, founder of TruckDocsAI. "The big TMS platforms start at two or three hundred dollars a month and assume you're running fifty trucks. We built TruckDocsAI for the guy with one truck and a binder."

TruckDocsAI offers a Basic Tier for single-truck operators at $19.99 per month and a Fleet Tier for fleets with up to five drivers and multiple DOT numbers at $399 annually. A 14-day free trial is available.

Lane founded the company in 2025 after seeing family members in the trucking industry struggle with paper-based compliance management, according to the company.
