Trimble is collaborating with travel and spend management platform Engine to integrate hotel-booking capabilities into several of its transportation products via Engine's new Omni lodging booking API.

The integration will allow truck drivers to access hotel booking services directly within the Trimble solutions they already use, including Trimble Places, Trimble CoPilot, and Trimble TMT Fleet Maintenance. Together, those transportation solutions serve nearly 800,000 customers across North America.

Trimble Places, a commercial location database that connects drivers to more than 6 million commercial vehicle locations worldwide, including fuel stops and warehouses, is the first platform to receive the integration. The Omni integration is currently available in North America. Integrations with the Trimble CoPilot in-cab navigation solution and Trimble TMT Fleet Maintenance are expected to be available in the near future.

Engine recently launched Omni Powered by Engine, a developer-focused hotel-booking API that enables companies to integrate Engine's hotel-booking technology into their websites and applications. The platform provides access to more than 1 million hotel properties worldwide, along with real-time rates, integrated payments, traveler support, and booking capabilities.

"We created Omni to be a developer-friendly infrastructure that empowers our partners to integrate seamless hotel booking right into their existing platform," said Elia Wallen, CEO of Engine. "We're excited to have Trimble as an early collaborator. For customers who live and work on the road, lodging isn't a nice-to-have; it's a core part of the experience. We built Omni to handle the heavy lifting so companies like Trimble can deliver that booking experience without building it themselves."

Helping Drivers Find Lodging Without Leaving Fleet Workflows

The integration is designed to help drivers locate and book accommodations without switching between multiple applications, particularly during overnight trips, delays, or vehicle breakdowns.

"At Trimble, our mission is to transform the way the world works, which includes providing drivers with the essential tools they need to succeed on the road," said Seth Handler, director of partnerships and channel sales at Trimble. "By integrating Omni by Engine into Trimble solutions, we're removing friction from one of the most critical aspects of a driver's day: finding a safe and reliable place to rest."

Handler said the technology can be especially beneficial for smaller fleets that may not have extensive travel management resources.

"With all that a small fleet has to worry about, finding a reliable, affordable place for a driver to sleep shouldn't be one of them," Handler told Business Fleet. "Both back-office and in-navigation booking through Trimble's collaboration with Engine transforms potential headaches into seamless, safe, and economical stops."

According to Trimble, the integration delivers hotel booking capabilities directly within its transportation ecosystem, helping drivers access lodging options through the platforms they already rely on for navigation, maintenance management, and commercial location information.

"For the millions of professionals who spend their working lives on the road, access to convenient, affordable, and reliable lodging is one of the most practical ways a technology platform can improve their experience," Wallen said. "For companies like Trimble, Omni can create a new product capability that deepens the value they deliver to customers and strengthens the role their platform plays in those customers' daily operations."

Omni Powered by Engine is available now. Developers and organizations can access documentation and explore integration opportunities through Engine's Omni platform.
